EligibilityMembership is open to Agency Members, Associate Members and honorary Members. Types of MembershipAn Agency Member shall be an “independent Insurance Agent.” An “Independent Insurance Agent” is defined as a person or firm licensed as an insurance agent in Texas transacting any or all types of retail insurance as an insurance agent or agency in San Antonio, Texas, or other Texas locations, solely on a commission or fee basis, and under contract with one or more insurers that recognize the agent’s ownership, use, and control of policy records and expiration data. Only Agency Members are entitled to vote. Associate (Company/Industry) Members are not required to be independent insurance agents. Associate Members shall consist of any person or firm which has a bona fide interest in or renders a service to the insurance industry and who is not eligible for Agency Membership. Associate Members may include, without limitation, insurance companies, general agents, surplus lines agents, law firms, adjusters and others who provide industry-related services. Associate Members may attend meetings, participate in discussion, and serve as non-voting members on committees, but are not entitled to vote in any membership meeting although they may vote in committee meetings. Honorary Members are not required to be independent insurance agents. Honorary Members are those which are selected by the Board of Directors as worth of special grant. Honorary Members may attend meetings, participate in discussion, and serve as non-voting members on committees, but are not entitled to vote in any membership meeting although they may vote in committee meetings.
